Trauma Sensitive Approach to Mindfulness

Six week series on Tuesdays, November 3-December 8. Drop ins are welcome.

Trauma Sensitive Approach to Mindfulness involves a deeper study of our relationship to our anchors of awareness as we explore being in the present moment. As we begin to attune ourselves to our present moment awareness through framework of The Window of Tolerance. We can use a Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness practice to making empowered choices within our practice to deepen our sense of self-trust and find our own personal sense of ease and balance by practicing these principles:

1. Feel free to choose a meditation position that feels the most intuitive and comfortable to you.

.

.

2. You are free to explore a variety of awareness anchors to stay in the present moment such as your breath, 5 senses, the ground beneath you, sitting against a wall behind you or perhaps listening to music

.

4. We learn to view our internal world through the lens of the Window of Tolerance/Polyvagal theory

.

5. We aim for this space to be a place to practice non-judgement, kindness and compassion.

6. You are free to keep your eyes open within the practice.

7. Learning to make an empowered choice based on our present moment needs is encouraged and offered within the class cueing.
