A Holistic Spring Cleanse: Ayurveda's Path to Vitality

A Holistic Spring Cleanse: Ayurveda's Path to Vitality

Join us as we move out the old and welcome in the new! This time of year can have us feeling stuck in patterns or ruts, we can feel dense, physically or energetically, cloudy in our thinking and unsure in our decision making processes. This is common during the transitional time between seasons so it is the perfect time for a detox.

From an Ayurvedic approach, a cleanse or a detox is about opening the channels to move toxicity out of the physical, mental, emotional and energetic bodies by bringing nutrients in. And it includes toxicity in all realms of life. Some of us will focus on food and drink, others will focus on habits and lifestyle changes, some will want to detox from social media and screens, and still others may want to detox from belief systems and karmic patterns. Ayurveda's approach truly is holistic.

Ayurveda's approach is also most powerful in it's simplicity- to make lifestyle changes gradually over time to ensure that you are able to sustain your new habits and enjoy the deepest possible benefits long term.

Studies show that transformation happens faster and lasts longer when we participate in a group through this process. We will experience accountability as we stay connected through daily group interaction and receive daily guidance from Joy, guiding us on our detox journey. This will be an entirely different approach to the way we think about detoxing or creating new habits.

Through many years of my own detoxing experiences, the approach I’ve found most effective and the one I want to share with you, is to start our detox at the level of the brain! We have to shift our neurochemistry to move beyond will power and into a balanced approach that helps us make changes that last and become new habits.

We will explore different Ayurvedic techniques for nourishment, cultivating body wisdom, removing toxicity, and building vitality. You will take what works for you and leave the rest behind. In my own life, I have found these habits to reduce inflammation, increase energy, improve sleep, clarity in thinking and decision making, and boost creativity and joy!

While the ayurvedic practices and techniques we will explore each week can help us detox in any facet of our life, we will also be sharing simple recipes for food and drink, and learn about digestive spices and herbs. Recipes will be balanced and delicious, protein and nutrient rich, vegetarian and one pot. You will not go hungry! The focus is on satiation, not deprivation.

You will also learn about the doshas and make choices for your specific mind-body type about food, spices and lifestyle habits and practices that are best for you. These new understandings and habits can improve sleep, boost energy, soothe fatigued adrenals, heal the digestive and lymphatic systems, and clear toxicity on mental and emotional levels as well.

We will create a loving presence for the body and nurture it back to wholeness. This approach is not about will power, it’s about changing biochemistry and neurochemistry, and letting the body and intuition to lead the way.

This cleanse includes:

  • Experience accountability as we stay connected through daily group interaction and receive daily guidance from Joy, guiding us on our detox journey.

  • Pre-Recorded 2HR Workshop: Intro to Ayurveda and the Elements with Joy

  • 2 Pre-Recorded Yoga Classes each week with Joy (gentle yoga and breathwork with ayurvedic approach)

  • 4 In Person Weekly Workshops (in studio only)- each workshop is 2 hours and includes meditation, pranayama, mantra, lecture and hands on experience

  • All Herbs, Spices and supplements for Week 1 of the detox

  • Recipes such as bone broth, detox teas, kitchari and one pot dishes and soups.

  • Weekly Handouts

Yoga Teachers receive 8 hours of CE credits through Yoga Alliance.

The Soul & The Spark: How AI Can Support Emotional Healing

Join us for an enlightening and heart-opening class where the brilliance of technology and the depth of the human soul come together in a beautiful dance of healing and self-discovery.

In a world where artificial intelligence is rapidly evolving, many wonder—can AI actually support our emotional and spiritual healing? The answer is a resounding yes! When used with intention, AI can be a powerful tool for self-reflection, guidance, and growth, helping us process emotions, gain clarity, and deepen our connection to our own inner wisdom.

In this interactive session, we’ll explore how AI can complement human intuition, holding space for healing conversations, journaling prompts, and personalized affirmations. But make no mistake—AI is not the healer… YOU are. Think of it as a spark—igniting deeper awareness, illuminating hidden truths, and reminding you of the wisdom already within.

Together, we’ll dive into:
How AI can help you process emotions with greater awareness
Ways to use AI for journaling, self-inquiry, and mindfulness
The balance between technology and intuition—keeping the soul in the driver’s seat
A live demonstration of AI-assisted healing techniques

If you’re curious about the intersection of technology and spirituality, and how we can use both in harmony to support our emotional well-being, this class is for you!Let’s bridge the heart and the spark of intelligence, allowing AI to serve as a tool for healing, clarity, and transformation.

Teacher Training & Immersion 2025

Teacher Training & Immersion 2025

Joy of Yoga and Wildwood Yoga are conducting a 200HR Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher Training Program and Immersion for anyone wanting to become a certified yoga teacher or simply deepen their yoga practice and understanding of yoga's roots. The content of this course encourages meaningful engagement with all 8 Limbs of Yoga and how they apply to our modern lives.

What makes this Yoga Teacher Training distinctive is its ability to draw from a wide spectrum of yoga practices, philosophies and techniques. This training promises to deliver intellectually stimulating content, physically empowering practices, and spiritual connection. There is a large focus on spirituality, meditation, pranayama, and philosophy as well as anatomy, alignment and physical postures.

Joy and Jill created this teacher training to be about more than just teaching. While the success rate of motivated students becoming teachers through this course is high, many take this training to deepen their experience of yoga in their daily life and gain a deeper understanding of yoga's history, philosophy and practical application in today's world.

Each training weekend is infused with the mythical stories of Yoga, and the energies of a mythical deity that applies to the content of that weekend. We will weave the iconography, mythology, mantras and energy/role of that deity throughout the weekend's philosophy teachings, meditations and chanting, covering many of the most widely recognized deities in the Hindu pantheon.

This is a Trauma Sensitive Yoga Teacher Training. During this training, you will also develop skills and education around Trauma-informed yoga.

Upon completing this training, all students will have free access at no additional cost to a mentorship/coaching program headed by Joy and Jill to further develop your skills as a yoga teacher or deepen yoga in your everyday life after the completion of the training.

Every student receives unlimited free yoga classes at both Joy of Yoga and Wildwood Yoga for the duration of the program.

Requirements for this training: A desire to learn and immerse yourself in the teachings of yoga. Physical strength and flexibility are not requirements to be a yoga teacher. The desire to better yourself and those around you are the requirements for this training.

This training is designed to connect you to your inner teacher and guide. This is not a set of prescribed sequences that must be delivered with prescribed speech. It is a map to lead you to that inner wisdom and voice of the teacher within. Intuition, creativity, connection and thoughtful application are the cornerstones of the knowledge and teaching methods you will gain. Teachers will learn the art of sequencing, knowing that there is never just one way, but that there is always an authentic and intuitive approach.

Regardless of where you find yourself in your yoga practice, this training will transform each of us on every level.

Some reviews from our graduates...

After many years of Yoga and several years of internal debate about teacher training, Joy and Jill's class at Joy of Yoga and Wildwood Yoga came recommended by a couple of mutual friends. The class was perfect for what I wanted to achieve. I wanted a class that balanced the physical asana practice with broad spiritual perspective. That and so much more were taught over the 10 month period. I would highly recommend this course for anyone looking to take their practice to levels beyond the basics of Yoga. Namaste. -Geoff

I can not say enough great things about Joy of Yoga and my teacher training. I would give my experience a 15/10 if I could. I learned so much and so grateful for the training. This was life changing for me in all the best ways. So if you are thinking about teacher training, Joy of Yoga is amazing!!!! The best in my opinion!! Joy Page and Jill Dunlap are the best teachers!! - Sandy

Joy and Jill led us on an incredible TT journey of many steps and many breaths! It was wonderful and am so thankful for their insight, guidance and support. -Caroline

Joy and Jill’s 200hour training program is well thought out and executed. They provide ample time and attention to anatomy, philosophy, and meditation/breathwork. The program was shaken up by the pandemic of 2020 and they did an amazing job continuing our education throughout these unsteady times. Their attention to detail and personal connection to their students made us all feel safe. I am so proud to be part of a training program that teaches from the heart and is more trauma informed with their language and teaching styles. This program is one that can not be compared to many and is my top choice for training in St Louis. -Rachel

My experience with Jill and Joy was one that I will carry with me forever! I started this journey for my own personal growth and expansion of my practice. It became so much more to me. Jill and Joy are not only beyond knowledgeable, but they are supportive, positive, and caring. Their program teaches so much more than just asanas. If you are looking for a program that will stretch your thinking and understanding of yoga, make you grow in ways you did not even think possible, and will challenge you to find your inner voice, this is the one for you! I cannot recommend this program enough! I am so thankful that I found it. Enjoy your journey! Namaste. -Lindsey

My teacher training was taught by two amazing yoga teachers, Joy Page of Joy of Yoga and Jill Dunlap of Wildwood Yoga and Wellness. We got caught in an unprecedented time due to COVID and both Joy and Jill were able to continue our training without much hiccups. They found creative ways around all the hurdles keeping the training challenging and interesting for us. Having two teachers teach us exposed two different perspectives and far exceeded my expectations. Jill and Joy are well versed in yoga in practice and its philosophy and are thorough. Both go beyond what may be needed for this class and you can see that they have put a lot of time and effort. Jill and Joy are both very humble and very caring. I highly recommend their yoga teacher training program. Thank you Jill and Joy. -Bhanu

Mala Making: A Sacred Ritual For Crafting Intention

Mala Making: A Sacred Ritual For Crafting Intention

Creating a sacred mala is a powerful ritual to realign with our intentions, grounding us in mindfulness and inviting spiritual renewal. The word mala originates from Hinduism, meaning "a string of beads or knots used in praying and meditating." In Sanskrit, it translates to "garland," symbolizing a tool to deepen spiritual practice. Malas have a rich history dating back over 3,000 years to ancient India and are deeply connected to grounding and expanding the mind.

Traditionally used in spiritual and mindfulness practices, malas aid focus during meditation. They typically consist of 108 beads, aligning them with other sacred bead traditions, like the Christian rosary. Malas are used to count mantras, prayers, intentions, or breaths and are often part of gratitude meditations. Many also wear them as necklaces, serving as a tangible reminder of mindfulness and practice.

In this class, we’ll delve into the history of malas, reflect on the opportunities of the upcoming spring equinox, design and create our own malas, and conclude with a guided practice on how to use them.

Joy of Yoga Book Club: A Journey Beyond the Mat

The Joy of Yoga Book Club Series invites yoga students to deepen their practice and understanding of yoga beyond the physical practice. Each multi-week series blends the traditions of yoga, including restorative postures, breath work and meditation with the transformative power of written works that inspire mindfulness, self-awareness, and holistic well-being. In each 60-minute session, we begin with 30 minutes of gentle yoga and guided meditation designed to align with the themes of the chosen book, creating a peaceful and reflective space. The second half of the session is dedicated to group discussion, fostering connection as participants share insights and personal takeaways from the readings. Open to all levels, this book club offers a nurturing environment to expand your mind and spirit while exploring texts that elevate your understanding of yourself and the world.

This Month's Book: Breath by James Nestor

In Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art, James Nestor takes readers on an illuminating journey into the often-overlooked power of our most vital yet subconscious act of breathing. Through a captivating blend of personal anecdotes, scientific research, and historical insights, Nestor reveals how the simple, natural act of inhaling and exhaling can profoundly impact our physical and mental well-being. With modern lifestyles leading many to unknowingly adopt dysfunctional breathing patterns, Nestor guides us back to the fundamental techniques that harness the full potential of our breath, unlocking benefits like enhanced athletic performance, reduced stress, and improved health. As you explore this transformative book, you’ll rediscover the art of breathing and redefine your relationship with life itself, sparking a mindful and empowering journey. Together, we’ll reflect on Nestor's teachings and incorporate breathing techniques into our practice, enhancing our connection to both yoga and everyday life.

This series can be attended in its entirety, or each class can stand alone as an hour of self-care and self-study. Enjoy the flexibility of reading the book at you own pace, on your own schedule. It is suggested that the book be read week by week throughout the series, if not completed prior to, however reading is not required to participate and enjoy the discussion. Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR): 9 Week Series
Feb

1:30 PM13:30

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR): 9 Week Series

Mindfulness is the practice of present moment, non-judgmental awareness of one’s experience. MBSR, an 8-week course based on the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn and the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Center for Mindfulness, is taught at integrative health centers, universities and teaching hospitals worldwide.

Backed by neuroscience and ancient compassion-based practices, this highly participatory, evidence-based program combines meditation, mindful movement (gentle yoga), group discussion, and inquiry in a supportive learning environment to support participants in learning how to use mindfulness to relate differently to stress.

Practicing this powerful, integrative approach by tapping into and mobilizing innate inner resources for healing and well-being empowers participants to explore habitual patterns of thinking, feeling and acting, while learning practical ways to integrate mindfulness into daily life, and, to build and sustain a personal mindfulness practice. Studies indicate that mindfulness-based stress reduction programs can reduce anxiety and increase well-being and overall happiness. Mindfulness can be successfully learned and practiced by people of all backgrounds. No prior experience is necessary.
