You don’t have to think about breathing to breathe, but the breath also responds to your emotions, your awareness, and by paying attention to it, you can shape it. This makes the breath one of your most powerful resources for bridging the body and the mind. When you have a better understanding of the mechanics of your breath, you can learn to release tension, breathe with more ease, and settle your body in moments of stress.
Join Jessie for an hour-long guided meditation, mainly seated with some gentle movement to take you inside your body and help you feel how your breath works. We'll first explore the mechanics of breath and then experiment with several yogic breath techniques (pranayama). You'll be invited to observe how these practices relate to your unique nervous system, discovering how your breath can create a sense of peace, presence, and connection and even soothe your stress response.
